- Jan Śliwiński -

Year 2006 May - NCK (Nowa Huta Cultural Centre)

The only one among the artists deeply rooted in the Nowa Huta landscape was, and on occasion still is, Jan Śliwiński. He lives permanently in the USA. He practises various techniques of the visual arts, with stage design predominating.

His present visit to Nowa Huta is connected with an exhibition of retrospective painting. His pictures are on show at the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, thanks to its management, which generously opened its honourable doors wide. The photographs below document - for the time being - only a modest part of that remarkable event.

The exhibition was visited by many well-known people whose significant contribution to the development of culture in Nowa Huta, in its many forms, goes back to the 60s more ..

Ryszard Wilk & Brian Locking

Year 2005 - August

I thought that the meeting - a real gem - of Jurek Mondrzyk with Jim Marshall would be a one-off on my website. It turned out otherwise. There are two gems. Rysiek Wilk met a member of the legendary band The Shadows during a picnic on Lake Ontario.

Ryszard! A live meeting with Brian Locking - the bass guitarist of The Shadows - is something to envy you. In the 60s the world listened to their wonderful music - many still do - and so do I, out of sentiment for my youth, for that wonderful, distinctive instrumental sound and the unforgettable tunes.

It is a pity that they played in Poland only once, and only in Warsaw. This October it will be.. 40 years since that event.

Holiday meetings of musicians after many years.. -

Year 2005 summer holidays

Holidays are always an occasion for meetings, including those after many years, and since the baggage of memories is considerable, there is plenty to reminisce about. And although KOMBI sings that "... każde pokolenie odejdzie stąd..." (every generation will pass away), in this place and for these people time has stood still ..
