Great words of appreciation and thanks for the tremendous work put into organising the competition and the meeting go to the Head of SP82 -
Beata Tomaszewska and to
Krysia Downar and Zofia Wiekierak
The scale and force of the emotions reached their zenith. The range of visual and sonic impressions and experiences crossed the Rubicon.
Awakened memories and feelings hard to put into words drew great tears of emotion from the eyes of many of the invited guests.
It was a volcanic eruption of feelings and sounds, full of the positive energy and vitality of young organisms. The school
children, by the power of their youthful spirit and charm, took complete possession of the audience.
For nearly 30 years I took part in a number of artistic reviews and competitions, in the most varied
temples of culture.
Without excessive glorification I must nevertheless sincerely confess that I have probably never
before encountered such spontaneous, expressive performances of songs as those served up to the listeners by the pupils
of Primary School No. 82 in Nowa Huta. Describing this extraordinary concert, one might say that the performing
class groups set in motion and released within themselves remarkable reserves of invention and performing potential
worthy of a great jubilee.
The 60th anniversary of the founding of Nowa Huta is indisputably an occasion of enormous weight, and thus an important opportunity
to recall the genesis of the great historic achievements bound up with the creation of: a new town,
a new social environment, a new era of civilisation.
It is therefore in the natural order of things that the jubilee celebrations have set in motion a set of dynamic
inspiring factors, of which Primary School No. 82 is, among others, proof. The admirable activity and
commitment of the teaching staff in putting on the said event raised onto a pedestal
Beata Tomaszewska - the school's head, and Mrs
Krystyna Downar. To this enterprising duo
(with vocal gifts as well) the listeners owe excellent vocal and artistic
presentations, not lacking in spectacle, at a truly high level.
In the not-too-distant future lovers of song will be able to fête the performers on a much broader
scale - during the Inter-School Festival
"O Nowej to Hucie Piosenka". It is worth stressing
that these undertakings have a devoted Friend in the person of the originator of Biblioteka Polskiej
Piosenki -
Waldemar Domański.
The all-powerful dominance of songs in English, and not only English - practised to an ever greater degree
by our own writers too - is causing a painful neglect of an unimaginably
vast store of beautiful, atmospheric
and artistically valuable Polish songs, among them also those that fortify the national spirit.
In this context, therefore, the conviction of that institution's mission and of its in every respect
necessary reason for existing is unshakeable. All the more so as the large-scale campaigns
to get the people of Kraków, Nowa Huta included, singing are organised precisely
under the auspices of
Biblioteka Polskiej Piosenki.
Bowing low with expressions of sincere appreciation to the organisers and performers of the events
so far, it remains to hope that many similar high-flying artistic performances
and many beautiful songs still lie ahead of us in the course of the jubilee celebrations.
