Cabarets,  cabarets...
The year 1971

The cabaret at the VIOLINKA club in Kraków-Nowa Huta - a fragmentary record from a long line of cabarets with a tradition going back to the early '50s....

The cabaret's musical setting and accompanist was Krzysztof Szwajger (he was helped - in arranging the voices - by his wife, an outstanding soprano). The leading role was played by Ola Maurer (later at Piwnica pod Baranami), followed by Bożena Jasiak (a brand-new doctor fresh out of university). The male side was represented by Jacek Bendkowski, Henryk Kuma, Janusz Langenfeld and Jacek Romiszewski.

The group's repertoire included, among other things, the poems of the French rake François Villon. At the cabaret competition in Konin the group won a significant prize.

The cabaret's programme was presented in many places across Poland, among others in 1971 in Szczecinek and Czaplinek at the central propaganda event, the Rally along the Trail of the Pomeranian Wall - which was prepared by Adam Kawa (lighting, sound) - while Russian romances were performed by Mieczysław Święcicki.

During the show tours the role of manager was filled by Stanisław Nowakowski.

In Nowa Huta there were quite a few housing-estate clubs, large and small, which did an excellent job of promoting the arts. One such little club was "Słoneczko" on the Słoneczne estate, run by Helena Drwal, and in that tiny room splendid things took place (for instance the ballads sung by Dorota Łowczyńska).
