The band Grodzianie ("The Townsfolk") was active in the years 1966-1969. In the first year it was based at Primary School No. 88 in Nowa Huta, in the line-up: Roman Śmietana - bass guitar, Zbigniew Wąsowicz - rhythm guitar, vocals, Jerzy Garncarczyk - lead guitar, vocals, Jerzy Gołda - drums, Piotr Boczkowski-Gardyła - vocals. From 1967 to 1969 the band's home was the "Jedynka" (Violinka) youth club of the Lenin Steelworks House of Culture (ZDK HiL) on the Młodości estate, no. 1.

There were changes in the line-up: Roman Śmietana left and was replaced by Wojciech Wierzbicki - bass guitar, vocals. Jerzy Gołda left and was replaced by Wojtek Budweil - drums. Piotrek and Zbyszek and I stayed on.

The band played mainly at dances in the "Violinka" (Jedynka) club, sometimes at the "Ekonomik" school (THM), and also in other schools and at occasional events; among other things it took part in the Festival of Youth Artistic Ensembles, one of the photos from which is shown below. The photo has faded, it is true, but somehow it has survived all these years.

The band's repertoire consisted of the songs that were in vogue at the time, and some of it was our own compositions. In particular these were songs by the Beatles, the Stones, The Animals, Czerwone Gitary, No To Co, Niemen, Trubadurzy and others.

There were some instrumentals too, such as "Maria Elena", "Samba Pa Ti", The Shadows: "Peace Pipe", "Blue Star", The Ventures: "Oczy Czarne" etc.
